                                            Provenance: The Artist
                                     Alexis M. Podchernikoff (1886-1933)
                                                             The Landlord of Alexis Podchernikoff
                                                             Thence by family descent

Alice has created this romantic picture of a wooded forest and slow moving stream on a cloudy-bright day.

This quiet moment was memorable, as she has placed herself looking over the shoulder of Alexis M. Podchernikoff (1886-1933). Observing this artist twenty years her junior, she has lightly inscribed his initials where he is seated.
It is interesting to note that Alice was a self taught artist, and Alexis was from a family of artists as well as being trained by Russian masters.

In this painting, she has borrowed the palette and figures from Podchernikoff’s own poetic subject matter. From the inspiration of a fellow artist and a romantic setting come new thoughts and FRESH IDEAS.
