An interesting side note about "Calabasas in Greens" is that Cedric Gibbons (1890-1960), legendary Art Director at MGM Studios, took this painting from Warren Newcombe in May of 1935, and was considering using it in one of his movies.

Gibbons is credited with the design for the Academy Awards Oscar Statuette standing on a reel of film and holding a sword. He was subsequently nominated 39 times for best production design, and won the Oscar 11 times, both of which are records.
